Building With God, Not For God

If you have ever stood in your kitchen on a Tuesday morning, exhausted, doing all the right things, posting the content, running the funnels, hitting the goals, and still felt like something underneath was hollow, this one is for you.

You have probably been told you need to hustle harder. Post more often. Optimize your funnels. Niche down. All the things. And maybe you did all of it, and it is still not working. Or maybe it IS working, and on paper you are crushing it, and you are still lying awake wondering why in the world you are even doing this.

Girl, the problem is not your strategy. The problem is that you have been building FOR God instead of WITH Him. And there is a massive difference.

Faith Is Not a Decoration

Most Christian business advice treats faith like a sticker you slap on top of secular strategy. You add a Bible verse to your Instagram bio. You open your launch with prayer. You tithe on your profits. Done.

That is building FOR God. You are using His name on a business you built with everyone else's playbook. Somebody else's blueprint.

Building WITH God is completely different. He is not a silent partner. He is not a God of deliverables. He is the actual CEO. And actual CEOs give you direction. Every decision goes through Him first.

The fruit looks completely different too. Building for Him produces exhaustion and unstable results. So many of us say we want peace and sustainability, and then we keep choosing the very thing that cannot produce it. Building WITH Him produces peace and a kind of growth that does not require you to run yourself into the ground.

I had a client hitting multiple six figures. On paper she was thriving. In real life she was hollow and ready to burn the whole thing down. She was building for Him, doing all the things, hustling. The day she started asking what HE wanted her to build, everything shifted. Different posture. Different audience. Different rhythm. Same income, completely different fruit. She finally had peace.

Three Practices to Hear God in Your Business

The first time I heard God clearly in my business was not during quiet time. It was not during a worship service. It was on my kitchen floor at 7 a.m., crying my eyes out while I made my girls their morning smoothies. That moment of complete surrender is the reason I am here. My mess on that kitchen floor became the ministry I get to walk out now.

Here are the three practices that changed everything for me and for the women in The Well.

Practice one: quiet before query. Do not bring God a business question until you have sat in quiet for at least five minutes. So much of what we call hearing God is really just our own anxiety dressed up in spiritual language. If you ask Him a question while your nervous system is on fire, you are going to hear your fear, not His voice. Get quiet in your body first.

Practice two: the fear test. If the spirit underneath a decision is fear, it is not from God. Hear me so clear on this one. Not from God. Ever.

A sound mind is not a fearful mind. This single test will eliminate most of the bad decisions you are tempted to make. Dropping your prices because you are afraid no one will buy. Not launching at all because you are afraid no one will hit the button. Posting daily because you are afraid you will be forgotten while you run yourself into the ground. That is all fear, and none of it is from Him.

Practice three: the peace check. God's leading produces peace, even when the next step is so hard. If a decision feels right but you cannot shake the unrest, that is information. Peace is not the absence of difficulty. Let me say that again. Peace is not the absence of difficulty. It is the presence of rightness.

The Third Way Nobody Talks About

The world says hustle. The church often says rest. You know what I say? Steward.

There is a third way most people miss completely. Hustlers manufacture. Stewards cultivate. The difference is who they think owns the field. A hustler thinks she is building from scratch and the results depend on her output alone. A steward knows God already planted something, and her job is to faithfully tend what is already in the ground.

This changes everything about how you decide. You stop asking what you can add and what you can do more of. You start asking, "Lord, what am I responsible for? What can You use my hands for?"

Stewarding looks like working in the margins, not at the expense of your family. It looks like saying no to good opportunities because they are simply not your assignment. It looks like trusting that God multiplies what you steward well.

And here is the thing nobody is saying out loud, especially in our space. When you steward instead of strive, the fruit is not just more peaceful. It is more fruitful. More financially fruitful. Because God multiplies obedience, not effort. What you do with little, you do with much.

This is not a business strategy. It is a posture. Vertical posture, eyes on the Lord. And it changes every single tactical decision downstream of it.
